BEING PART OF UJ COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMME

THE EXPERIENCE AT UJ COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMME

I was given the opportunity to work with University of Johannesburg Doornfontein Campus community engagement . On this program we were involved with many projects that included  conducting a survey at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital.

Charlotte Maxeke Hospital is general hospital in Park town, Johannesburg in Gauteng Province. As Public Relations students at University of Johannesburg along side the Doorfontein campus community Engagement we were given an opportunity to conduct a patients' experience of care survey for in and out patients. The survey was made up of categories namely the identity of health faculty, the biographical data, access to care, values and attitudes of the staff members and waiting times to consultations. The survey was conducted for 7 days from the 13 July to 19 July 2022.

Our role was to ask the patients to fill the forms and tell us feedback. Ask questions if applicable. The patients were kind to fill the forms. when conducting the survey they were many compliments and little to no complaints from the patients. The patients seemed to be satisfied with the hospital service. We to learn about how hospitals operate and experience the ambience of the hospital. It was such a great experience and wonderful opportunity for me to learn and grow as an individual at a workplace.
